Shoshenq II was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who ruled during the 22nd dynasty (943-716 BCE). He succeeded his father, Takelot I, and reigned for about 14 years (889-874 BCE). Shoshenq II is known for his military campaigns against the Libyans and the Nubians, and for his construction projects, including the Temple of Amun at Tanis. He also carried out extensive building and restoration work at the temple of Ptah in Memphis and the temple of Re-Harakhte in Heliopolis. Shoshenq II was succeeded by his son, Osorkon I.
